Beaches, deserts, lakes

This superb little itinerary takes in the full range that Chile can offer

16 days

One of the great things about a country such as Chile is that, within the space of a couple of hours, it is possible to combine a whole wealth of different experiences. In this great value itinerary, you will be taken from the vibrant capital, to the sleepy and quirky coastal towns of Valparaiso and Zapallar. From the Pacific Ocean you will then go up to one of the driest places on the planet - the Atacama Desert - for a few nights. Finally, to round things off, you will head down to the stunning Chilean Lake District for a few nights. This is an itinerary we have recommended many times and it never disappoints!

Met on arrival and transferred to the Torremayor Hotel to stay for 4 nights on a B&B basis. Located in the pretty Providencia district of Santiago, the hotel is within walking distance of cafés and restaurants and is just a short hop on the metro from the historic centre and Lastarria.

Met and transferred to Valparaiso to stay in the Zero Hotel for the night on a B&B basis (there is the option to have lunch on the way here in one of the vineyards of the Casablanca wine valley or, alternatively, you can look at visiting the Maipu wine valley as a day trip from Santiago).

Zapallar, Pacific Coast

Met and transferred to the Isla Seca Hotel in the quaint fishing village of Zapallar to stay for 3 nights on a B&B basis. Just a two hour drive from Santiago, the hotel offers sea views and is a short walk from the beach, making it an ideal place to relax for a couple of nights at the beginning or end of the trip.

The Atacama Desert

Transferred back to Santiago Airport in time for the flight up to Calama. Met and transferred to Alto Atacama to stay for 3 nights on an all inclusive basis including all activities while here. Alto Atacama is the most recent addition to the high-end hotels in San Pedro de Atacama. Around a 15 minute drive from the centre of town, the hotel boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains and desert which can be enjoyed from any of its outdoor pools.

Chilean Lake District

Transferred back to Calama Airport in time for the flight via Santiago to Puerto Montt in the Chilean Lake District. Met and transferred to Casa Molino to stay for 3 nights on a B&B basis.Tucked away on the banks of Llanquihue lake, the lodge provides a great base for trekking and adventure sports or just relaxing in this tranquil environment.

Transferred back to the airport in time for the flight back to Santiago. Met and transferred back to the Torremayor to stay for the last night on a B&B basis. Spend the night indulging at one of Santiago's top restaurants or take in a performance at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral.

Return home

Met and transferred back to the airport in time for your onward flights.

Please note that the above is on a B&B basis unless otherwise shown and the cost does not include international flights.
