Awasi Atacama

The Awasi has taken a different view to how you should experience the Atacama. Rather than having views from everywhere, and large, facility laden communal areas, they have gone for privacy and intimacy as their driving attributes. What this has created is a comfortable and peaceful “sanctum” from which to retire from the heat and bustle of the surrounding desert.

Each of the adobe huts is set away from the others and has been constructed in the traditional style, lending them a cool and authentic feel. With only 12 cottages, each with its own personal guide, it is possible to stay here for a week and only occasionally bump into the other residents!

As mentioned above, where other hotels in this bracket have gone for the large spa and pool areas with endless views out to the horizon, the Awasi has preferred to keep things secluded and internal with a great lounge area, a small, central pool and a great restaurant area.

On the whole, while we were a little disappointed by the lack of views, this is a great hotel and deserves to be ranked in the top three in the area (along with Tierra Atacama and the Explora). It definitely offers a more private and quiet experience and so would suit those that are after these elements on their trip.
